Guided Kentucky Cave Tours Near Mammoth Cave National Park

Located in Horse Cave, Kentucky, Hidden River Cave offers one of Kentucky’s most unique cave tours just minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park. Explore one of the state’s largest and most scenic cave entrances, where two subterranean rivers flow more than 100 feet below ground. Walk across the world’s longest underground swinging bridge and step into Sunset Dome, one of the largest free-standing cave domes in the United States.

Along the way, you’ll discover the remnants of a turn-of-the-century hydroelectric generating system that once supplied the town above with water and electricity while learning about the cave’s remarkable history, geology, and the unique creatures that inhabit the underground environment. Hidden River Cave is one of the premier attractions in Kentucky Cave Country and an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.

American Cave Museum

Your visit continues at the American Cave Museum, Kentucky’s only museum devoted entirely to caves, karst landscapes, groundwater, and cave conservation. Called “a little bit of the Smithsonian in rural Kentucky,” the museum features engaging exhibits exploring cave geology, archaeology, cave wildlife, groundwater protection, and the important role caves play in our environment.

Admission to the museum is FREE for all ages. Enjoy a self-guided tour through two floors of interactive exhibits before exploring the nature area overlooking Hidden River Cave’s spectacular entrance.

Whether you’re planning a visit to Mammoth Cave National Park, exploring Kentucky Cave Country, or looking for family-friendly things to do near Mammoth Cave, Hidden River Cave and the American Cave Museum offer an unforgettable underground adventure.
